What This Is
The Bar application cycle is fragmented: mini-pupillage windows open and close without notice, essay competition deadlines scatter across different websites, and mooting competitions require months of preparation. This site exists to centralise that information in one place.
The Deadline Tracker shows every upcoming mini-pupillage application deadline, essay competition, and mooting competition we have been able to verify, displayed in a calendar or card view with filtering by category. You can also add your own custom deadlines that stay saved in your browser.
The Skills Quiz helps you assess your application profile across six dimensions and points you toward where focused effort will have the most impact. The right next step is different for every candidate at every stage. Sometimes the gap is advocacy, and the answer is a mooting competition this term. Sometimes it is written work, and an essay prize would do more for your application than another mini-pupillage. Sometimes it is evidence: you may already have the instincts of a barrister, but nothing on paper that proves it, and the priority becomes finding work experience that lets you demonstrate those skills before the pupillage window opens. The quiz is designed to tell you which of these you are facing, so you spend your limited time where it counts.
Who We Are
Nursah Maria Demi
I am an incoming Judicial Assistant in the High Court, Chancery Division (Intellectual Property List), for 2026/27. I am a Gray’s Inn scholar and will begin the Bar Course in 2027/28.
My route to the Bar is unconventional, as it was for many practising barristers. Mine spans changing countries, an HND and an LLB, and grief handled along the way. It also includes a UK Supreme Court internship, a Government Legal Department summer scheme, mini-pupillages across commercial, civil and criminal sets, and commercial dispute work in industry. I won the Lord Kerr Memorial Essay Prize 2026 and the 36 Group Annual Advocacy Competition 2025, and I am a Bridging the Bar 2025/26 alumna.
Outside law, I read philosophy and sociology, hike, travel, and spend most of my free time with my dog and two cats.
BarPath exists because I missed opportunities along the way. Not through lack of ability, but because deadlines were scattered across dozens of sources and shared in networks I was never part of, while I worked full time. This site is the resource I wish had existed. It puts everything in one place, for everyone aiming at the Bar.
Ayse Dila Sert
I am a County Court advocate at LPC Law and completed the Bar Practice Course in June 2026. I am an Honourable Society of the Middle Temple Bar Scholar, recipient of the Soraya Pascoe Exhibitioner award from Goldsmith Chambers, and a Bridging the Bar 2025/26 alumna.
My path to the Bar has been unconventional. Having lived across Turkey and Nigeria, I graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Exeter in 2025 and received access to the Bar Awards from the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in 2024. I have gained broad practical insights through various judge marshallings, including at the Royal Courts of Justice. Alongside this, I completed multiple mini-pupillages across civil, family, crime, and commercial sets, and volunteered consistently in pro bono clinics throughout my law studies and Bar Practice Course. These experiences strengthened my commitment to the Bar while highlighting how difficult it can be to navigate it without established networks or clear guidance.
BarPath exists because I experienced firsthand the challenges and missed opportunities that come from the hectic, fragmented nature of the Bar application process. This website is designed to be a compass for everyone aiming for the Bar, especially those from unconventional backgrounds. By consolidating opportunities, deadlines, application strategies, and insider insights into one accessible space, BarPath aims to empower the next generation to pursue their ambitions with confidence, clarity, and fewer regrets. It is my sincere hope that this resource will help many turn their determination into success at the Bar.
